A cliffhanger of all cliffhangers as icon comic character Negan is introduced into the television series

Negan is the one the most icon characters in The Walking Dead comics. His foul-mouthed, kill them all attitude is beloved as well as loathed by die-heart readers. Negan is also one of the most talked about characters for the Walking Dead television series, both eagerly anticipated and feared because most fans know he’s all business when it comes to his survivor group. Most fans also know that Rick and Negan are going to collide in a gigantic way that will leave at least one of Rick’s group bludgeoned to death from Negan’s favorite weapon — a barbed wire wrapped wooden baseball bat he affectionately refers to as Lucille.

The finale episode, ‘Last Day on Earth’, did not fail when it came to the introduction of Negan, played by Jeffery Dean Morgan. Rick’s group was captured as they were trying to get a extremely ill Maggie to the Hilltop Community for medical attention. The psychotic Negan has a score to settle with Rick. He didn’t appreciate Rick’s group killing his people. The episode ended with Negan terrorizing Ricks group, telling them one of them was going to to die to set an example, and Negan choosing his victim through a game of “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.”

Hi. You’re Rick, right? I’m Negan. And I do not appreciate you killing my men. Also, when I sent my people to kill your people for killing my people, you killed more of my people. Not cool. Not cool. You have no idea how not cool that shit is. But I think you’re gonna be up to speed shortly. Yeah. You are so gonna regret crossing me in a few minutes.

This was an all out cliffhanger, which in the Walking Dead cliffhanger history is without a doubt the number one cliffhanger of the series six seasons. Someone is going to die. Most fans have their own opinion of who and why, but remember this is the Walking Dead — nothing is as it appears to be and misdirection is a big part of the Walking Dead series, just like season six’s episode ‘Thank You’, where it appeared Glenn was being torn apart.
